What Is True Safety?

From a Buddhist perspective, danger is normal. by Thanissaro Bhikkhu A short reflection that is often chanted in Theravada monasteries states, in part, “I am subject to aging . . . subject to illness . . . subject to death.” That’s the standard English translation, but the standard Thai translation is more pointed: “Aging is normal for me . . . illness is normal . . . death is normal for me.” The extended version of the reflection goes on to say that these things are normal for everyone, no matter where. To be born into any world is to … Continue reading What Is True Safety?

I am too old to fight hipsters

(Credit: pio3 via Shutterstock) We left Brooklyn a decade ago. Now it’s followed us upstate. We don’t need after-hours clubs, but do bring bagels by TONY FLETCHER First, let the record show that I am writing this from Brooklyn, looking out on the house I lived in somewhat contentedly, on “Lower” Park Slope, for the best part of a decade. I say somewhat contentedly only because, like so many people who realized their youthful dream of living in New York City, the subsequent realities of marriage, mortgage and child-rearing combined with a lack of physical space and a desire for fresh … Continue reading I am too old to fight hipsters

Carl Jung’s Archetypes – The 4 Stages of Life

Saviuc, Purpose Fairy Waking Times “Thoroughly unprepared, we take the step into the afternoon of life. Worse still, we take this step with the false presupposition that our truths and our ideals will serve us as hitherto. But we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life’s morning, for what was great in the morning will be little at evening and what in the morning was true, at evening will have become a lie.” … Continue reading Carl Jung’s Archetypes – The 4 Stages of Life

SWITZERLAND BANS BURKAS: “THOSE WHO REBUFF OUR VALUES ARE NOT WELCOME”

by MAC SLAVO Switzerland has long been known for being neutral as it relates to geo-political affairs, especially across Europe. As hundreds of thousands of middle east “migrants” flood the continent, the Swiss have made it clear that anyone who wishes to reside in their country must adhere not just to their laws, but also their cultural heritage. While European leaders continue to claim that the majority supports multi-cultural diversity and inclusion, the people of Switzerland have spoken. Women in many parts of the Middle East are prohibited from being seen without their all-black burqua outfit on. The reverse is … Continue reading SWITZERLAND BANS BURKAS: “THOSE WHO REBUFF OUR VALUES ARE NOT WELCOME”

Circling the Wormhole

by Zen Gardner, Guest, Waking Times Time once again appears to be behaving strangely. Not just the surreal blender of the whirled news, but the little slippages here and there, abrupt realizations that it’s not the time or date you thought it was. Things like that. Are you noticing? Time moving very quickly, strange sort of head spinning feelings when trying to track your thoughts, memory lapses, sense of fatigue for no good reason, or ringing in the ears with a touch of vertigo? It’s freaky. There are a lot of influences at work right now. Some good, some bad. Perhaps we … Continue reading Circling the Wormhole

Michael Rivero: Paris, Fukushima and crimes against humanity

By Rory | Daily Coin The situation in Paris is not all that different from other events that we have been dealing with for much longer. The same people telling lies and deceiving the masses with propaganda to push whatever agenda the elite deem necessary. I sat down with Michael Rivero from What Really Happened to discuss some of the more serious situations that are currently unfolding. One situation happened on Friday 13 in Paris and the other has been an ongoing global nightmare that, today, gets very little attention and very little coverage. The situation in Fukushima with a … Continue reading Michael Rivero: Paris, Fukushima and crimes against humanity

Animals in Conflict: Diesel, Dobrynya and Sentimental Security

by Good German Binoy Campmark writes at CounterPunch: When it was realised that a police Belgian Shepherd by the name of Diesel had perished at the end of a last act of defiance in St. Denis by suspected ISIS militants, social media, allied to the sentimental industrial complex, took over. Extensive coverage scrolled across the screens, powered by such hashtags as #JeSuisChien. According to Jean-Michel Fauvergue, who led the assault, there was “little doubt that she saved the lives of police officers.” The political chance to exploit this death was too good to miss, and canine solidarity was met in … Continue reading Animals in Conflict: Diesel, Dobrynya and Sentimental Security

Mysterious California landslide: Public warned to stay away from warped road (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

© MierImage Aerials / YouTube A road in Santa Clarita, California, turned into an asphalt mess in just three days, and no one knows exactly why. What started off as a small ripple on Vasquez Canyon Road soon turned into a scene from a post-apocalyptic blockbuster: the asphalt torn, utility poles dangerously tilted. Local authorities were quick to close the road on November 19, attracting curious on-lookers as well as extreme sports daredevils. Despite danger warnings, skateboarders have used the opportunity to explore the naturally-made ramp, and one man was seen riding his dirt bike on the newly-formed ripples.  Officials … Continue reading Mysterious California landslide: Public warned to stay away from warped road (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Meet the man who funds ISIS: Bilal Erdogan, the son of Turkey’s President

cumhuriyet.com.tr (Here is a recent picture of Bilal, shown in a photo from a Turkish 2014 article, which “asked why his ships are now in Syria”) By Tyler Durden | ZeroHedge Russia’s Sergey Lavrov is not one foreign minister known to mince his words. Just earlier today, 24 hours after a Russian plane was brought down by the country whose presidentthree years ago said “a short-term border violation can never be a pretext for an attack”, had this to say: “We have serious doubts this was an unintended incident and believe this is a planned provocation” by Turkey. But even … Continue reading Meet the man who funds ISIS: Bilal Erdogan, the son of Turkey’s President
